Im looking to buy Revolution Mx park in South Carolina, Union county.. Was this a good, great or a not sought after track to ride. I want to hold races, practices, events etc.. Any suggestions..
Possum Kingdom MX is/was for sale as well. There is some wonderful potential there for a primo track. Talk to Chuck Stansbury. He can give you the low-down.
I think you will find that most people that rode at Revolution Park really liked the track. T believe the biggest down fall of RPM was the bad timing of the economy. I think with some gravel on the road, some grass on the parking area and some TLC, RPM could make a comeback.
Joe may seem a little crabby but he knows what he speaks.
All I'm going to say is, if you want a hobby that you spend all your money and all your time on and get no return on other than the satisfaction. Buy a track. If you think you are going to make money, think again. Maybe speaking out of turn, but I think iron city had plenty of money and equipment and they didn't seem to be making any money either. If you have plenty of money and you want to use it as a tax write off or if you need to dispose of some money. A track is your best bet. If you think your going to get rich running a track bail now. Also for everyone that wants to complain about the track or how much it is to ride. Go ahead and try to run a track on your own. You do good to pay the bills. You can search for my previous rant if you want, but in short support the tracks that are trying to give you a place to ride. And if you enjoy yourself or the track is really good that day. Go back again and again. If you want to go a step further, volunteer to do something to make the track better or to help out in some way. If you don't have the time to do that donate to the track for improvements or just to pay the bills. The people that run these tracks really are selfless. They do it so you and them (when they have time to ride) will have a place to ride. And that is all I'm going to say about that..
daang Norm....enough said...we contemplated taking over lakeside back in the early 2000..but i agree with Norm,,,lots of work, not much money to be made...BTW Norm and Tim and a few others at lakeside have done awesome job with it....great to have a trak nearby in greenville..
i would say that RPM had some very cool natural terrain areas, awesome starting gate/first turn and was fairly easy to find from the hwy...it did get really muddy at times bc it didnt drain well in some areas. overall i give it a 7 out of 10....what i have heard is that holding races is what cost the most to the owners - ie insurance, safety, trak prep etc... my advice go in with one of the local tracks first and see how they run,,,then maybe start by renting RPM and open it just for practice ....see how that goes...
lots of ppl here with trak experience...Troy at 101, Brian from Blazer, Tim from lakeside and on and on..im sure others will chime in...good luck...

In case you havent noticed MX is a dying sport in the upstate, instead of flaming anyone who even hints at opening a track perhaps it would be a better idea to support them. It is not that I disagree with a word you said and I really appreciate anyone that does anything to promote the sport but good greif, why so much negativity? I once suggested trying to get a private biking club together (which has been done succesfully all over the country) and I got flamed for even suggesting it.
after exchanging a few emails with the potential buyer he sounds committed and serious. he was a lil bummed at all the comments trying to steer him away from buying but he is looking at a couple tracks today and hopefully will buy one and provide another choice as to where to ride. man i would love to see revolution open again.
101MX could be a great track to have. Freeing up time for peyton to race is a plus. If interested fill free to call 864-505-5364 or email bdrracing@gmail.com

If there is one truth that will be revealed it is that People thinking of buying a track should be committed.
and after several more emails i can say he is. god forbid there is another track open to everyone from beg, to a class. i'm putting him in touch with a local contractor in the am to try and get some numbers to solve the water issue as well as the road entering the track. damn dude are you ever positive about anything that doesnt benefit you? rather than act like 12 year old girls. quote this 803-201-3342 maybe we can learn from each other.
jojo i haven't yet but will be tomorrow. he's there with the purchase but needs to work some details as well as negotiate price. he by no means is going in blind, he knows where he wants to go with the whole thing and is committed to doing things 100% but again there are details that need to be worked out. as far as jmx goes look man, i'm not 18. i've been involved with this sport for alot of years, maybe i havent run a series,or a track, but this sport is in my soul. the reason i say the things i say is because you sound bitter about anyone trying to venture into being a track owner. i'm sorry if something in the past left a foul taste in your mouth but don't beat someone down and try to take the wind out of their sails. who knows maybe it will come together and work out benefiting him as well as the riders.i am not a fan of arguing via a message board. kids do that. i would like to meet face to face, shake hands and talk. i will leave it at this. if you are truly a supporter and a fan of mx, give him advice but do it in a supportive way. trust me, after talking to him and hearing how many tracks are actually up for sale in sc and nc anyone trying to open one up at a quality level deserves respect.
