2011 Anaheim 1 results

Click on the title to see the final results.

The opener of the 2011 AMA Monster Energy Supercross Anaheim opener race was one of the most anticipated races in decades. Not in a long time has the Supercross season seen so many top level riders all on one gate. With injuries to Stewart and Villopoto last year and neither of them being on a gate since, the unknown was one of the hardest part of the equations this year. Dungy seemed destin for a win as he was coming off the greatest season for a rookie on the 450 class with a Supercross and Motocross title in the same year. Reed had a dismal season last year and left people wondering only to start his own team this year.

Tedesco looked better then I have seen him ride in a long time and I hope he can get into the mix and be on the box more then once this year on that KXF. Josh Grant is just coming back from an injury and has only been on a bike for three weeks. And then there is Canard, who rode the 450 class part time last year with great results. It was surely anyone's game last night and I think we are in for a great season should everyone stay healthy. Personally, I cant wait until next week when the first race jitters are fading away and them boys realize its time to get down to business if they want that ring at the end of the year!! I just hope the tracks get better as the racing does.

CORONA, Calif., – Valli Motorsports Rockstar/Yamaha Team rider Austin Stroupe will ride practice tonight at Angel Stadium of Anaheim during the opening round of the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship and then he and the team will determine if he is ready to race.

Stroupe, who sustained a serious shoulder injury requiring surgery and extensive rehabilitation at the Houston round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship has only been riding a short time and may not yet be prepared to race a 20-lap main event.

20 year-old Stroupe joins the Valli Motorsports Rockstar/Yamaha Team for his first full season in the premier class. He surprised the field last year with good starts and laps led on a 450 while substituting for an injured teammate at a few of the opening rounds of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship. During Lites East Supercross Stroupe finished on the podium every round of the series except one due to a fall before being injured while second in series points. He was forced to miss the AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series due to the shoulder injury.
